Introduction and Directions
In this first unit of the year we will explore the question: How can talk make the world a more peaceful place? Surveys have found that people generally fear public speaking. Perhaps however, you are someone who loves to share their ideas with others in any setting. Remember that the language arts include: reading, writing, listening, AND SPEAKING. But if you are on the quiet side, relax. The goal of this unit is NOT to deliver a powerful speech or polished presentation, but to identify what our speaking strengths are and to consider how we might make even better use of them.
Please thoughtfully respond to the following statements by rating yourself from 1 to 5for this unit only__ (1 = Rarely 2 = occasionally 3 = sometimes 4= usually 5 = always). Be honest and simply respond with the answer that best describes you. Your answers will be kept private.
